Add Domain to HostGator - First Step of Hosting

If you are new to online world and want to have a web site then you will need web hosting. You will also need to have one domain registered. When you host your domain and upload web site files at hosting space then only you will have a complete website.

So making a website involves two steps. First step is to register a domain name and second step is to host it at hosting company.

In this tutorial, I will guide you how you can add domain to your hostgator account. Adding a domain to Hostgator account means hosting your domain at hostgator. This tutorial assumes that you already have a domain name registered and name servers are pointing to your hostgator name servers. . Just follow these steps and you will have a working website.

1) Login to Hostgator cPanel.
2) Under the Domains section, click on Addon Domains button.
3) On this page, enter your domain name which you want to host. Set up a ftp username. Give the document root.  You can keep document root under the public_html folder. I prefer to keep document root under the root directory.
4) Give the passwords and click on add domains button.
